Next generation weapon tested

US navy tested an enormously powerful new weapon which is designed to replace the conventional weapons aboard naval ships. It uses electromagnetic energy instead of chemical explosives to fire a projectile. It is named as railgun. It will ultimately fire projectiles with a muzzle velocity of 7 mach. Mach is the speed of sound which is 340m /second at sea level.

The full capability working prototype is expected to be released on 2018.
