Cracking Zipingku dam in China
The Zipingku dam is near to the epicenter of the 7.9-magnitude earthquake, by the small town of Dujiangyan. Dangerous cracks appeared in the structure after Monday’s earth quake. Xinhua News Agency said Wednesday that 2,000 troops had been sent to work on the Zipingku Dam, upriver from Dujiangyan in Sichuan province. More than 14,000 people were still missing and nearly 26,000 people had been buried. The Dujiangyan project, built in 256 BC, is more than 50 kilometers from the provincial capital of Chengdu and irrigates 666,000 hectares of land. Its the world’s oldest irrigation system.

Dad jailed after daughter fails math test
A Fairfield man is in jail because his daughter hasn’t gotten her General Equivalency Diploma (GED). A judge ordered the father to stay on top of his daughter’s education months ago and when that order wasn’t followed, Brian Gegner was sentenced to 180-days in the Butler County jail. The judge says if she passes the test, her father could get out of jail before his six-months sentence is up.
Arsonists behind Florida wildfire
Police say one or more arsonists may be responsible for the nine wildfires ravaging Florida’s Atlantic coast. A witness saw someone in a car drop something into an open field Monday, and a fire started shortly afterward. About 100 homes have been destroyed or damaged in the fires, which are burning for the third consecutive day. Gov. Charlie Crist has already declared a state of emergency. His orders allow Florida to use federal funds and bring local emergency workers under state control.

In addition to a 3D looks at stars and galaxies, Google Sky offers infrared, microwave, and historical views of the sky.

Researcher had expected that the smell of a cat would reduce the sexual drive in rats and the scared mice aren’t sexy mice. But now they have found that cats could help mice get lucky in love.
According to a new study cat’s urine not only scare mice away, but it also seems to act like an aphrodisiac (agent that arouses sexual desire) for the rats. The smell make male mice more macho and attract females.

The World Health May Benefit From A Computer Game
Researchers at the University of Washington are trying to make medical discoveries, even finding a cure for HIV by a new game called Foldit. This game may be the key for biological mysteries ranging from vaccine to Alzheimer. The free program is available at http://fold.it/.
Foldit is the first protein-folding project which capitalizes on people’s natural 3-D problem-solving skills. Researchers are trying to use the brain power of people all around the world to advance biomedical research and asking volunteers to participate in this study. Researchers are unsure about the result.

The technology will provide some sort of image advertisement that has been scaled to fit on the screen of a mobile phone,based on a user’s query. The service is available in 13 countries (Australia, China, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, the UK, and the United States).
Doomsday Is 2012
As we all know, there are many spiritual leaders and believers had predicted end of the world, dating back to at least 2800 B.C. They have all been wrong for thousands of years, but they are still trying to predict the doomsday.
These believers solely trust that they have known the Earth- shaking secret that should be informed to others. We all are familiar with the dozens of predictions that the world would end in 2000, but it’s been 8 years and nothing happened so far.
The latest prediction says that the world is going to end in 2012 . It either will bring a new age of global spiritual awakening, or the end of the world. Or maybe something in between.
