Woman who helped 2,500 Jewish children escape death camp died.

Irena SendlerMrs Irena Sendler who worked as a social worker in a welfare department during World War II,masterminded the risky rescue operations of Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto. She kept the names of the all 2 500 children in hopes of one day uniting them with their parents. She was once arrested by Nazis but Zegota, an underground organization helping Jews, paid a bribe to German guards to free her from the prison. She died at a Warsaw hospital after she had been in hospital for a month with pneumonia.
