Dicken’s desk sells for $850k

The writing desk and chair used by Charles Dickens while he was writing the “Great Expectations
” sold for over $850K. The money raised in the auction will be donated to the Great Ormond Street children’s hospital in London. Hospital’s founder was a close friend of Dickens.The furniture was kept in Dickens’ study at his country home Gad’s Hill in southeast England and is seen in several portraits of the author. The widow of Dickens‘ great-great grandson Christopher Charles Dickens, recently donated the furniture to the hospital.
