Google launches Chrome for Mac, Linux - with a caveat

Google ChromeGoogle late Thursday released developer-only versions of its Chrome browser for Mac and Linux, making good on a nine-month-old promise that it would eventually add those editions to the Windows version that debuted last September. The Mac and Linux versions are rough and unstable, warned Google. Chrome accounted for approximately 1.8 percent of those used last month, according to the most recent data from Web metric company Net Applications, a surge of 27 percent from the month before. Global Survey of Teenagers Reveals Nokia Still the Number One Mobile Brand

Nokia N85Nokia is the number one mobile phone brand according to 112,000 teenagers, across 30 markets, who took part in the Global Habbo Youth Survey Brand Update 2009 (GHYS). Despite a third consecutive year at the top of the chart, Nokia has lost teen support year-on-year. In 2009, 21 per cent of teens named Nokia the number one favorite, compared to 29 per cent in 2008. Toyota recalls 1.35 M cars

Toyota iQToyota said,the recalls are mostly due to problems linked to the seatbelt tensioner that may cause a fire in the case of a collision. 1.35 million Vitz and two other models will be recalled globally. Subject to the recall in Japan are 525,898 Vitz, Belta and Ractis cars built from January 2005 to April 2008 and combined 830,000 units of the Vitz subcompact and Belta exported to Europe, North America and other markets. Toyota is the world’s largest auto maker.

Sony ReaderOne more gadget with the touch screen capability is in the market.¬† PRS-700 is the third model of the Sony’s ebook reader which has a built-in light and a touch-sensitive display. The device also comes with a stylus, which can be used to highlight text or make handwritten notes. The reader will go on sale at the end of the month for about $400. A single battery charge offers up to 7,500 pages of reading. Sony’s introduction of touch screen capability set it apart from the competing Kindle reader by Amazon.

Sony’s Latest OLED TV Only 1 Millimeter Thin

Sony oledOLED, Organic Light Emitting Diode. A new type of viewing screen. Can be viewed in bright lighting conditions, at greater angles, unlike LCD’s. It uses an organic material that emits its own light, so no back light is neede. Sony has unveiled a prototype OLED (organic light emitting diode) television at the Ceatec 2008 electronics expo in Japan. The TV measures just 0.9mm.

Honda To Build Hybrid Motorcycles.

Honda Motorcycle HybridHonda Motor Co., the world’s leading motorcycle manufacturer, announced recently that it will be producing gas-electric motorcycle that would use a hybrid drivetrain. Fifty percent fuel economy is expected from the hybrid model. Honda plans to use lithium-ion batteries that will provide a range of about 60 miles. The range of the motorcycle is expected to be 30 kilometers in one charge.

Nintendo To Launch New DS with Camera.

Nintendo DSNintendo plans to launch a new version of its popular DS portable gaming device with a camera and music player function. There were 77.5 million DS units sold as of the end of June this year,since the first DS went to sale in 2004. In Japan alone 23 million units have been sold. The Nintendo code named DS as Nitro. The console’s name officially refers to “Developers’ System”, in reference to the new game design the system was meant to inspire, and “Dual Screen”, the system’s most obvious and distinct feature.

Sony VaioSony and Toshiba laptops scored highest in a poll to find which home computers are the most reliable. The two brands got 93 per cent reliability in the “Which?” Computing annual survey. Overall, laptops scored 87 per cent for reliability, compared with 80 per cent for desktop computers. Apple, Compaq and Dell chosen as the top desktop brands.
