The World’s First Telephone Book
The world’s first telephone book has just found in Connecticut. It was 20-page directory and issued in November of 1878. The phone book contained information useful to 391 subscribers within the Connecticut. It says that “Should you wish to speak to another subscriber you should commence the conversation by saying, ‘Hulloa!”.
It also says that “Never take the telephone off the hook unless you wish to use it”. When you are talking to other subscriber, say “That is all”, and the person on the other end should say “O.K.”, only then you can hang up. The book also tells the users “lower lip and jaw free.” Users are warned not to use the phone for more than 3 mins at a time and no more than 2 times an hour without getting the permission from the main office.

Sex Education For Deaf Pupils
The University of Manchester’s Audiology and Deafness team is conducting a study, to improve sex education taught to deaf pupils. The researchers hope their findings will be more accessible for deaf children and, at a later stage, they plan to devise a fun, non-threatening computer game to explore how much children know about issues related to growing up.
Teaching sex and relationship education to deaf children is very challenging, but it is important. Children with hearing disability are more vulnerable to abuse because they may not recognise inappropriate behaviour or their boundaries. Researcher are encouraging parents of both deaf and hearing children to take part in this research.

Rats feel peer pressure too.
Peer pressure, makes human going against what they know is right, just to fit in. To conform means to accept the ideas, the fashion, the way of walking and talking that is popular at the time. A recent research at McMaster University,Canada revealed that rats also feel the peer pressure. The urge to conform appears to be so strong that they will choose to eat food they know to be unpalatable when interacting with other rats that have done the same. Until now, humans and chimps were the only other animals known to conform in this way.

Wife wants divorce after husband lifts her veil
For 30 years, the wife never showed her face to her husband in conformity with the tradition of her native village. Now 50, the Saudi woman asked for divorce after her husband lifted her face veil while she was sleeping. This is one of the several incidents of husbands who have not seen their wives’ faces in decades. The practice of always remaining veiled, even in front of your husband, is not an Islamic practice but a very old tradition practiced by a minority of people in Gulf countries.

Salt Water In Mars
Scientist have proved that Mars once had water, but they are still debating if the water was suitable to support life. After studying salt deposits left behind on the planet’s surface, Tosca and his colleagues state that the planet’s water would have been too salty for the organisms. Mars lost most of its surface over time and left with arid and cold desert. But it had been friendlier once. The origins of life on Earth is much easier than an acid pH and high salinity environment in Mars. It may be the reason why it might not have worked so well for the evolution of life on Mars.
