Santa ClausGoogle teams up with NORAD(North American Aerospace Defense Command) to track Santa Claus. On December 24, Christmas Eve, NORAD will begin tracking Santa’s trip with live video feeds. NORAD has been tracking Santa for over 50 years, after a young child called the US air defense radar network head quarters, to find out the location of Santa Claus. A Google Map with Santa’s current location will appear at www.noradsanta.org and will be updated with Santa’s journey.

Muntadar al-Zeidi, an Iraqi reporter,called Bush “a dog” and shouted out “this is the end” before throwing his shoes. PiratesSomali pirates who hijacked Ukrainian arms ship MV Faina have vowed to fight any rescue attempts. They demanded a $20 million ransom to release it. There are 33 Soviet-designed tanks and heavy weapons aboard the ship. Six U.S. Navy warships have surrounded the ship. Pirates Spokesman Sugule Ali told the Associated Press: ‘We have nothing to do with insurgents or terrorist organizations, we only need money.’

Stephen HarperNow Canadian Prime minister Stephen Harper made that speech on 20 March 2003 in the House of Commons in Ottawa during an emergency debate held at the beginning of the US-led war in Iraq. Mr Harper’s 2003 speech had been made almost word-for-word two days before in Canberra by his former Australian counterpart, John Howard. California to Remove the singing Road.

As part of an ad campaign,Honda turned Lancaster’s Avenue in California into a musical road. Notches are dug and spaced at specific intervals and sizes that produce different notes as the tires hit them, and the result is musical. Cars driving over them at specific speed (55mph) produce part of Rossini’s William Tell Overture. Those grooves were tuned specifically for a Honda Civic. The city is decided to pave over the road after receiving complains about the noise. You can watch the video of the road singing.

DogGreg LeNoir took his 14-pound rat terrier Jake for a daily swim. When the dog was swimming off the Florida Keys, a 5-foot shark attacked the dog and pulled him under the water. Jake’s owner dove in and hit the shark in the back and the creature finally let go of the dog.

He argues that selective killing of female newborns in the Scandinavian society led to a shortage of women in the first place, resulting later in intense competition over eligible women.

Wide Disparities in Health Care by Race and Region

But a new study shows place of residence could play a role in quality of the medical treatment a patient receives. According to a new study in United States  that women in Mississippi are far less likely to have mammograms than those in Maine. The study also revealed that blacks with diabetes or vascular disease are nearly five times more likely than whites to have a leg amputated. “In U.S. health care, it’s not only who you are that matters; it’s also where you live,” wrote the study’s authors, led by Dr. Elliott S. Fisher.

26% of Americans Volunteer.

US FlagA recent study finds about 26 percent of Americans age 16 or older, performed volunteer work for a nonprofit organization. That is around 61 million volunteers. The study also revealed that growing number of volunteers who dedicate substantial time to service. The report analyzes data obtained from annual Census Bureau surveys of roughly 60,000 households around the country.
Other Key findings:

  • People who live in mid-sized American cities are more likely to volunteer than residents of big cities.
  • Utah had the highest volunteering rate in the nation.
  • Women volunteer more than men
