Panda has released a free anti-Virus offering that resides mostly off the host system and in the cloud. Using ‘Collective Intelligence’, along with distributed computing and a global and community-based platform, Panda has said this new offering is entirely different from what it’s created in the past. They have made a video explaining the Cloud Anti Virus.
Sophos, leading internet security firm said, a third of web users have admitted to using the same password for a number of different websites. According to the security firm, just 19 percent never use the same password twice. According to experts at Sophos, many computer users continue to overlook the importance of choosing strong passwords.
A third version of Downadup worm has been identified by Symantec. The new version gives infected machines more powerful instructions to disable antivirus software and analysis tools. The W32 Downadup.C variant was discovered Friday in a Symantec honeypot and is still under investigation.

According to the McAffee’s annual mobile phone report, over half of all handset manufacturers have reported instances of malware and spam attacks on mobile phones. In 2008, 17 percent of the world’s handset manufacturers reported a total of over one million attacks.
