Cyber attackers target South Korea and US

Microsoft warns of serious computer security hole

windows-xpMicrosoft Corp. has taken the rare step of warning about a serious computer security vulnerability it hasn’t fixed yet. The vulnerability disclosed Monday affects Internet Explorer users whose computers run the Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 operating software. It can allow hackers to remotely take control of victims’ machines. The victims don’t need to do anything to get infected except visit a Web site that’s been hacked. Security experts say criminals have been attacking the vulnerability for nearly a week. Thousands of sites have been hacked to serve up malicious software that exploits the vulnerability. Windows XP ATM’s Under Hacker Attacks in Europe

atmThere have been approximately 20 ATM’s in Eastern Europe that have been compromised. These attacks are in the early stages of development and would probably gain momentum and even spread to US ATM machines. A security outfit, TrustWave’s SpiderLabs performed the analysis of malware found installed on compromised ATMs in the Eastern European region. The ATM’s that were compromised ran Microsoft Windows XP. Hackers breach US air traffic control computers

federal-aviationHackers broke into US air traffic control computers on several occasions over the past few years and increased reliance on Web applications and commercial software has made networks more vulnerable, according to a government audit. The report said a security test identified 763 “high-risk” vulnerabilities which could provide an attacker with immediate access into a computer system and allow them, for example, to execute remote commands. Google for password hunt

google.pngA new tool has been released by the hacking group Cult of the Dead that turns Google into a vulnerability exposer. The tool is called Goolag and is available as an open source software. The tool is a stand-alone Windows .Net application with an easy-to-use graphical interface. The Cult of the Dead Cow is best known for its Back Orifice software, which could be used to remotely control a Windows machine.
