‘Hari Puttar’ wins ‘Harry Potter’ suit
The Delhi High Court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Hollywood production giant Warner Bros seeking stay on the release of Bollywood film ‘Hari Puttar. Warner Bros studio had claimed that “Hari Puttar,” had a title that was too similar to its billion-dollar franchise about J. K. Rowling’s boy wizard. “Hari Puttar,” is produced by the Bollywood studio Mirchi Movies. Mirchi Movies argued on it defense that Hari was a popular name in India, and that “puttar” means son in Hindi and Punjab.
Abu Dhabi to Make Hollywood Films
The Gulf state is set out to become one of the largest film producers in the world with $1bn to invest in productions to be made in Hollywood. The investment will be provided by Abu Dabhi’s government. The first co-production partnerships would be announced within weeks. Abu Dhabi is the capital and second most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), after Dubai. The UAE’s per capita GDP is on par with those of leading West European nations.
Dark Knight Arrested.
The “Dark Knight” star Christian Bale was arrested in London after allegedly assaulting his sister and mother. His mother and sister brought the accusations to the Hampshire police station. After being held for more than four hours, Bale was released on the condition that he returns to the station at an unspecified date in September. The film Dark Knight raked in 158.4 million dollars, breaking the previous North American box-office opening record of 151.1 million held by “Spider-Man 3″.
Communists Upset with Indiana Jones
Stephen Spielberg’s new Indiana Jones movie aims to undermine communist ideology and distort history, said Members of Russia’s Communist Party. They also called for a nationwide boycott of the movie. Moscow Communist lawmaker Andrei Andreyev said “it is very disturbing if talented directors want to provoke a new Cold War.” In the movie, Indiana Jones is fighting KGB agents for control of a crystal skull. The first Indiana Jones movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark (Special Edition)
, was released in 1981, followed by Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984 and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989.
