India has launched its first indigenously built nuclear-powered submarine capable of firing ballistic missiles. Gay rights activists in India say a ruling by the Delhi High Court decriminalising homosexuality in the country is a landmark. The judgement overturns a 148-year-old colonial law which described a same-sex relationship as an “unnatural offence”. Homosexual acts were punishable by a 10-year prison sentence. India’s mobile connections are forecast to top 771 million by 2013 after growing at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 14.3 percent from 452 million connections in 2009, research firm Gartner said on Thursday. India is expected to remain the world’s second largest wireless market after China in terms of mobile connections, according to Gartner. Baffled doctors are trying to unravel the mystery of an Indian village boasting more than 220 sets of twins born to just 2,000 families. The phenomenon has seen almost six times as many twins born than the global average in the remote village of Kodinhi, in Kerala. The radar imaging satellite (RISAT-2) launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) from Sriharikota on Monday is owned and operated by ISRO, its chief said, dismissing reports labeling RISAT-2 a “spy satellite”.
