Israeli prime minister ignores Obama’s calls and says ‘natural growth’ on West Bank and in Jerusalem will continue. The Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, said today that his country would continue to build in Jewish settlements in Jerusalem and the West Bank, despite calls from the US administration for a halt. Netanyahu’s comments came less than a week after he met President Barack Obama in Washington, where he was told that the US wanted to see a stop to settlement expansion. Workers demolishing the wall of a building that once belonged to the former Nazi German Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp have found a message in a bottle written by prisoners 65 years ago, Auschwitz museum officials said. An article published by an Iranian satellite channel Press TV on its Web site says, the massacre of Jewish people during the Holocaust was “scientifically impossible”. Iranian government setup the Press TV, an English-language 24-hour news channel. Nicholas Kollerstrom, who wrote this article, had his fellowship terminated by University College London last month after he said there were never any gas chambers at Auschwitz. Mrs Irena Sendler who worked as a social worker in a welfare department during World War II,masterminded the risky rescue operations of Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto. She kept the names of the all 2 500 children in hopes of one day uniting them with their parents. She was once arrested by Nazis but Zegota, an underground organization helping Jews, paid a bribe to German guards to free her from the prison. She died at a Warsaw hospital after she had been in hospital for a month with pneumonia.

A study by the Steinhardt Social Research Institute at Brandeis University points that Jewish attachment to Israel has largely held steady for the period 1994-2007. The study showed that differences in attachment to Israel are likely related to life-cycle rather than the diverse experiences of successive generations.
