The United Nations is advising governments to invest in green jobs working with “sustainable forest management” to address the growing problem of unemployment worldwide. Food and Agriculture organization, one of the UN agency, say in a recent report that at least 10 million green jobs could be created. Sustainable forestry aims to prevent depletion of forests by managing them and making sure their use does not interfere with natural benefits or the local environment. One of the major concerns arising from deforestation is the global effect it produces on climatic change. Between May 2000 and August 2006, Brazil lost nearly 150,000 square kilometers of forest, an area larger than Greece.
