Sony’s Latest OLED TV Only 1 Millimeter Thin
OLED, Organic Light Emitting Diode. A new type of viewing screen. Can be viewed in bright lighting conditions, at greater angles, unlike LCD’s. It uses an organic material that emits its own light, so no back light is neede. Sony has unveiled a prototype OLED (organic light emitting diode) television at the Ceatec 2008 electronics expo in Japan. The TV measures just 0.9mm.
World’s Thinnest LCD HDTV
Sony unveiled a LCD High Definition TV with a 9.9 mm thickness, taking the crown as the world’s thinnest LCD HDTV. The model has a LED back lighting, 3,000:1 contrast ratio, 120Hz MotionFlow tech, x.v.color and BRAVIA Engine 2 image processing. It will be released in Japan on November 10th. Price? $4,500.
