India’s mobile connections are forecast to top 771 million by 2013 after growing at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 14.3 percent from 452 million connections in 2009, research firm Gartner said on Thursday. India is expected to remain the world’s second largest wireless market after China in terms of mobile connections, according to Gartner. Market and consumer survey shows 70 percent of U.K. mobile users are open to receiving mobile advertising. If users are able to control the advertising they receive on their mobile phones and are incentivised then 70 percent are happy to receive advertising according to findings from an in-depth research project into the U.K. market. While control is obviously a massive advantage in preventing spam, U.K. users also cited incentives as an acceptable way to receive advertising, with 64 percent happy to receive advertising on these terms. According to the McAffee’s annual mobile phone report, over half of all handset manufacturers have reported instances of malware and spam attacks on mobile phones. In 2008, 17 percent of the world’s handset manufacturers reported a total of over one million attacks.
