In Los Angels, a Latino street gang waged a racist campaign to eliminate the city’s black residents through attempted murders and other crimes, according to federal racketeering indictments unsealed Thursday. Five indictments charged a total of 147 members and associates of the Varrio Hawaiian Gardens gang, and federal and local agencies arrested 63 of them by early Thursday, U.S. Attorney Thomas P. The United States will boycott a United Nations conference on racism next week, the U.S. State Department said on Saturday, citing objectionable language in the meeting’s draft declaration. Dube Egwuatu,a data analyst was shot three times in a London street for wearing a Barack Obama T-shirt. The gunman confronted him and used racial slurs inside a shop, and shot him three times using a gas-powered ball-bearing pistol. The incident happened in broad daylight. No one has been arrested.
