Stem cells ‘able to reverse symtoms of multiple sclerosis’

surgery-medicineScientists have been able to reverse the symptoms of multiple sclerosis using stem cells from patients’ own body fat. Some have been left free from seizures and better able to walk after the treatment. Researchers said that the results suggest that the “very simple” injection of their own cells can stimulate the regrowth of tissue damaged by the progression of the disease. Multiple sclerosis (abbreviated MS) is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the central nervous system, leading to demyelination. Full Story : Telegraph.co.uk…..

Stem cells to grow bigger breasts

A STEM cell therapy offering “natural” breast enlargement is to be made available to British women for the first time. The treatment could boost cup size while reducing stomach fat. It involves extracting stem cells from spare fat on the stomach or thighs and growing them in a woman’s breasts. Full Story : Telegraph.co.uk…

Down Syndrome In A Dish

stemHarvard scientists have created stems cells for 10 genetic disorders. These stems cells will allow these researchers to watch the diseases develop in a lab. This new technique could help to find treatments for some of the genetic diseases. Dr. George Daley and his colleagues at the Harvard Stem Cell Institute produced these stem cells by using skin cells and bone marrow from people with diseases such as Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and Down syndrome. The new technique of re-programing cells gives these cells the qualities like embryonic stem cells, which can morph into all kinds of tissue, such as heart, nerve and brain. So researchers can see progression of each diseases in a dish. This technique can help to find a cure by knowing what goes right or wrong in a dish.

Grandmas Can Have Babies

testtubebabyWhen scientists predicted a scenario just like test-tube babies 30 years ago, it shocked us, but now it is an acceptable routine to most people. According to the journal Nature “Making Babies: The Next 30 Years”, newborns and 100-year-old  can have children; labs will generate sperm and eggs for anybody; human embryos will be easily made by pluripotent stem cell; “Genetic cassettes” will be inserted to correct any genetic diseases or mutation; and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) will become as cheap as $100.

But don’t you thing the old-fashioned way is cheaper and more fun?
