Rating attractiveness: Study finds consensus among men, not women

Men’s judgments of women’s attractiveness were based primarily around physical features and they rated highly those who looked thin and seductive. Most of the men in the study also rated photographs of women who looked confident as more attractive. As a group, the women rating men showed some preference for thin, muscular subjects, but disagreed on how attractive many men in the study were. Jehovah’s Witnesses More Likely to Die in Childbirth, Study Finds

Pregnant women who are Jehovah’s Witnesses are six times more likely to die during childbirth and three times more likely to have serious complications than the general population, according to a new study by Dutch researchers. All of the cases of death examined by the researchers were caused by major obstetric hemorrhage, according to the study, and the refusal of red blood transfusions by the women was found to be “an important factor” in the deaths. South Africa Rape Study: 1 In 4 Men Admit Rape

One in four men in South Africa admitted to raping someone and many confessed to attacking multiple victims, according to a new study conducted by the Medical Research Council and reported by the Mail and Guardian: Of those surveyed, 28% said they had raped a woman or girl, and 3% said they had raped a man or boy. Gossiping may be just what the doctor ordered because it increases progesterone, a hormone that reduces anxiety and stress and makes women happier, according to an article in the London Daily Mail. The new research, at the University of Michigan, paired up 160 female students. After 20 minutes, the girls who had asked each other “chatty” questions were found to have increased or steady progesterone levels, while the progesterone levels of the girls who’d worked on the botany project declined, Brown explains. Women are achieving better grades at university, study finds

Women are outperforming men at university according to research by the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI). The study shows that female students of all ages and social and ethnic groups now outstrip male undergraduates in almost every subject including law and medicine. A study of more than 2,000 female twins showed that those with greater emotional intelligence had larger numbers of orgasms. Aspirin a Day ‘may lower risk of breast cancer’

Daily dose of Aspirin may protect women against breast cancer, a landmark study suggests. The study found that those taking Aspirin painkillers had a 12 per cent lower risk of breast cancer during their lifetime than the general population. This research was carried out by the University of British Columbia, the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute and the University of Santiago de Compostela. In US alone nearly 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer each year.

61 Year Old Woman Had A Baby

A Japanese woman aged 61 gave birth to her grandchild. Her daughter donated an egg a clinic said on August 22, 2008. Surrogate births are rare in Japan and banned by industry groups, but it is not illegal. The Clinic refused to provide information regarding the baby. This procedure has been done because the woman’s daughter has no uterus. Both surrogate mother and baby were fine.

A study done on 12,200 couples proved that the chance of a successful pregnancy falls when the man is over 35, and it is significantly lower if he is over 40. The researchers told in a health conference that it was due to the DNA damage in sperm.

Young men are said to think about sex every 52 seconds, on the other hand thoughts of shopping pop into young women’s heads every 60 seconds. The survey conducted among 778 women aged 19 to 45. Half of those surveyed said they preferred shopping to spending time with their partner.

According to a new study, men tend to consume alcohol when they are stressed or upset. But men are more likely to distract themselves from negative emotions, and try not to think about these emotions. This can lead to alcohol related disorders.
