Yahoo MusicYahoo launches a new feature on its search pages which allows users who search for an artist with available content on Yahoo! will be able to listen to songs by the artist right on that page. The Yahoo Search music playback is powered by Rhapsody and offers full-song playback for more than 5 million tracks. Each user can listen to 25 free full-length tracks every 30 days. Once 25 songs have been played, users can subscribe to the Rhapsody Unlimited streaming service or continue to listen to an unlimited number of 30-second samples until the next month begins. Yahoo!’s FoxyTunes Player enables the on-demand, web-based playback of music within Yahoo! Search and throughout Yahoo! Music.

Palin’s Yahoo Mail Hacked and Published

Sarah PalinU.S. vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s Yahoo account gets hacked and of its contents are reportedly published on the Wikileaks Web site. A hacking group known as Anonymous gained access to Palin’s Yahoo account late Tuesday night and sent the information to Wikileaks. “Governor Palin has come under criticism for using private e-mail accounts to conduct government business and in the process avoid transparency laws,” Wikileaks wrote in a note.

GPS Bicycles by Yahoo.

Each bicycle equipped with solar panel which provides the power for the camera and a special software takes signal from mobile phone’s accelerometer to capture an image every minute whenever the bike is in motion. The Nokia N95 will be the handset of choice.

A survey by Yahoo revealed that one-third of survey respondents believe that landing a dream job in the current economy is just not possible. Survey respondents (42 percent) assert that one of the biggest obstacles to finding a job in the current economy is that there are no openings at companies they are interested in or for positions respondents want. In the midst of all the pessimism Yahoo! HotJobs announces the launch of the HotJobs 100, a resource for job seekers who want to know exactly where to find the jobs. The HotJobs 100 is a list of the top 100 companies across all industries that are currently hiring. Yahoo! HotJobs is also releasing lists of the industries and geographical regions where hiring is the hottest. HotJobs 100 list is updated quarterly.

MySpace Beats Yahoo in Ad Views

MySpace and YahooUntil recently Yahoo leads the US market for online advertising, with 53 billion views on average. But according to data gathered by comScore, MySpace beats Yahoo in June drawing 56.8 billion advertising views. Even though MySpace leads in terms of advertising viewership, Yahoo draw top-dollar ad rates relative to MySpace. ComScore data also shows that Yahoo’s share of the display market has been trending down since July of 2007.

Intel and Yahoo To Bring the Internet to TV.

The Widget Channel will allow consumers to enjoy rich Internet applications designed for the TV while watching their favorite TV programs. It will also give developers access to write TV applications for the platform using JAVASCRIPT, XML, HTML and Adobe Flash technology. In addition to supporting the Yahoo! Widget Engine, Yahoo! will also provide consumers Yahoo!-branded TV Widgets that are customized based on its category-leading Internet services. Intel is the world’s largest CPU maker.

The main advantage of Buzz over other social bookmarking services like Digg,Delicious is that Yahoo pushes a few Yahoo Buzz stories to their home page every day, resulting in huge traffic to the sites. Starting yesterday, the invitation requirement is gone, and anyone can submit their stories to Buzz.

YahooYahoo! Inc. today introduced a new open Web services platform, Yahoo! Search BOSS(Build Your Own Search Service). The platform allows third parties a deeper level of access to Yahoo! Search Technology. The platform gives the flexibility to re-rank and control the presentation of Web search results. Yahoo says monetization capability will be added soon to the platform. BOSS is available to any company that wants to participate in the program. Google also offers a similar service called Google Custom Search.

Problems with Yahoo mails?

YahooIF you are getting ‘Server busy’ or ‘Time out’ error messages when access your Yahoo mail, rest assured Yahoo is busy fixing the problems. Yahoo has decided to roll back the anti-spam and SSL features,that were added in its mail service earlier, since those security and anti-spam enhancements interfered with users’ ability to retrieve POP e-mail from external accounts. The rollback of the anti-spam features is under way and will take few days according to Yahoo. After Yahoo rejected Microsoft’s acquisition offer, it is facing a tough shareholder proxy fight to oust current board members.

Microsoft Withdraws Yahoo bid

In a final meeting occurred today at Microsoft headquarters, Yahoo said the lowest price they could accept was $37/share. Microsoft said that the economics demanded by Yahoo! do not make sense for them. Microsoft made a public offer to buy Yahoo on Jan. 31 this year. Both Microsoft and Yahoo have struggled to compete with Google for the billions of online advertising dollars.

The letter was signed by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. The bid to buy Yahoo was made in January and announced Feb. 1 for $44.6 billion
